weekending

Derek and I were lucky enough to get away for a looooonnnng weekend of awesome recently when we took a road trip though southern Ontario. We spent a few days at a friend’s parent’s house by the beach (by the BEAUTIFUL beach!!), and then went on to a cabin to go to a wedding by another beach (by ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL beach!!). The trip was filled with delicious food, good pals and lots of silly (which I so love).

Some highlights included:
- waking up to a serenade of "Help Me Rhonda" after a previous evening of drinking
- endless movie trivia car games (my RomCom knowledge had to be valuable at some point!)
- mud fights in the most awesome, shallow beach ever
- bill shatner in Weird or What. is that his real house or what?
- cute babies (I am totally a foot nibbler. Scary fact.)
- a gorgeous couple getting hitched
- dudes who cater their own weddings (Ummm let's just say that's kind of awesome.)
- olympic style ping pong tournaments
- swimming in crazy waves
- a cabin full of rad folks

Needless to say we are a) spoiled rotten and b) still recovering from our vacation.

It was great to get away. It was LOVELY to get away. Having summers off (for the most part) means that I get a little stir crazy, and a few days by the water were just what I needed to recharge. Also, all the people we got to hang out with were fabulous. ALSO also, we spent a ton of time swimming in Lake Huron and guess what? It’s totally wonderful and not at all the polluted mess I thought it would be! Score! My favourite parts of the trip were those spent by the water (I’m totally part fish). On the last day of our trip (before we folded ourselves back into a vehicle for many kilometres of travelling), we got to experience some amazing waves, and it was just like being on the ocean.

I only wish I’d taken more pictures, but I guess that just shows how thoroughly I was enjoying myself.

Enjoy the few photos I did snap – especially the silly signs!

Route! I <3 my iPhone!

Fields of sunflowers :)

Small towns and their creeks.

We went to a fair and played this game.
You had to grab a bull by the horns and push.
Apparently I am a "pensioner." Hmm.
That means weak in old-timey speak.

Best signs ever at the fair.

Best. Signs. Ever.
(I ninja snapped this one too - high five for me!)

Sandy beach shadows. Best.
